The funny side of domestic violence

27 Aug

This blog hasn’t laughed so much since the Lord Meddlesome of Fey Green Slime Incident.

Con-Dem partnerships can be tricky……

Coalition partners resort to violence.

Liberal-Democrat councillor Christine James has been charged with assault and will appear in Weymouth Magistrate’s Court on September 9th.

Feeling are running high amongst the tribal ground force. Passions inflamed as agendas are compromised. Who did she assault?

Her alleged victim is believed to be her husband of 19 years and Conservative Borough council colleague, Ian James.

Mr James is a champion of the Weymouth and Portland Domestic Violence and Abuse Forum and sits on the Community Safety Partnership…..

At a borough council meeting earlier this month, Christine James said that campaigners from the Friends of Weymouth Refuge for battered partners had proven that a refuge like this is both relevant and needed’.

Respectful tug of the forelock to the mighty Al Jahom.

So how was Climate Camp for you?

Don’t know about you lot but this blog had a whole pile of fun….

….but  it was that veteran hogger of the limelight and burster of pompisity’s bubble, Old Holborn, who ran away with the laurels….

….and managed to get almost an entire piece in The Groan to himself.

Honourable mention for services to sanity to @wearethebritish, who started the whole thing with this….

When’s the next one? Tell me there’s another one soon!

Quote of the week

Hate crimes complaints, I learned, are like hydras: attempt to chop up one and you find yourself facing two. Douglas Murray

James Delingpole has also incurred the righteous ire of the Diversity Police this week.

Tear down the blue rag!

Here’s a more exciting flag for you, Kirsty….

This blog’s chief complaint about the EU flag is that they really could make it a bit more absorbent and less scratchy.

Oh, I say!

This blog really likes this little gem from the English Democrats.

English Democrats have submitted the following questions to be answered by the BBC by the end of September 2010 under Section 65 of the Race Relations Act.

To a BBC Board Member:-

A. Do you accept that “English” is a protected group (“racial group”) within the meaning of the Race Relations Act 1976 as amended;(“RRA”) if not please state reasons why not and, if yes, please specify the type of racial group within the meaning of section 3 of the RRA you accept English as being?

etc. etc. etc….

You can’t say that!

Meat Free Monday?

11 Aug

If there’s one thing that would put this blog off vegetarianism for life, aside from the fact that meat is tasty and nutricious, it’s Caroline Lucas.

Lobby your local MP to make sure he brings chicken and bacon club and tuna sandwiches into “work” every alternate  Monday.

Now for lunch. Whale blubber soufflé today. Yum yum!
